Scorpios are ambitious, intuitive, discerning, and magnetic to others. They feel everything intensely and are able to penetrate the depths of experience. Most are highly psychic and intuitive, which can make them either very compassionate and empathic or very cruel and vindictive, because they know where other people’s weak points are (yup, called pressure points. I found a really good one on my brother one time...). Scorpios are secretive, yet other people tend to tell them their own secrets. This often puts Scorpios in the role of counselor and keeper of secrets (see volunteer work: counselor). Scorpios are excellent judges of character. They have an incredible amount of sympathy for those who truly deserve it, but they have no sympathy or patience for whiners and people who are the authors of their own misfortune.
Scorpios are extremists. Everything they do is all-or-nothing (or what`s the point, I ask?). They are experimental risk-takers who have a lot of physical courage (RAWR!) and have unbelievable endurance ((leers)), though, conversely, they may be hypochondriacal or suffer from hard-to-diagnose symptoms when under stress. Scorpios can tolerate a lot of hardship (Life is pain. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something - Wesley) and are able to succeed under the worst of conditions. They are good at overcoming obstacles and turning change and challenge to their advantage, which is good because Scorpios tend to attract sudden changes (ie, trouble) and endure more than their fair share of hardship. Scorpios are survivors who have a way of turning misfortune to best advantage.
The sign of Scorpio rules over death, rebirth, and much of the Occult (I sound like Sailor Saturn or something...). Scorpios are often interested in these subjects. They are not afraid of the things most people fear, and are able to explore the concepts of death and other realms that would cause anxiety to others (Amen.). Scorpios can experience a lot of anxiety, but not usually over the same things that make others anxious (Amen again.). Scorpios are not squeamish at all (except with dead jellyfish - Mel...), which fits them for careers in medicine and rescue operations. They are cool under pressure and almost always in control of themselves, which makes them good spies and police officers (sweet!). They will work hard at anything they undertake, and usually succeed in the long run. Adversity only makes them stronger (Bring. It. On!).
All signs have a bright side and a dark side, but with Scorpio, these sides are more pronounced (Tries to remember the Faramir quote from the Two Towers and fails...). Scorpios usually have a lust for power and a fear of others having power over them . This can cause problems when Scorpios deal with authority figures (You have no power over me - Jennifer Connelly). Anyone who tries to dominate a Scorpio will soon feel the sting. Scorpios can be vicious and vengeful (I only glued his butt shut once.). They are unforgiving and feel a need to take revenge for various wrongs (her glasses glint ominously in the shadows). They are often suspicious of others (what? huh? who`s there?) and may have a strong jealous streak or a tendency to attract very jealous partners, which can lead to severely flawed relationships full of fighting and strife (but any other kind of relationship is boring). They get into many power struggles with others (and win, I might add). Scorpios can also be inflexible, resentful, and vindictive. On the other hand, you couldn’t have a better and more loyal friend than a Scorpio. They only go after those they believe have crossed them. Toward those for whom they have sympathy, they are fiercely protective and compassionate.
Scorpios often have piercing eyes and a powerful gaze (look into my eyes...). Their personalities are seductive. People often find them interesting because they reveal little but are usually very deep. They are slow to trust new people, and it takes them a long time to reveal even some of their secrets. They like to explore the profound in life and have little interest in small talk (boh-ring). Creativity, subtlety, and persistence usually ensures that they get what they want in the end, but if these things don’t work, they can become aggressive. They will go after what they want with a ruthless determination that is often rewarded (unless your name begins with a `k` and you have a cat fetish).
Scorpios are good at discerning the feelings and motivations of others (I am now probing your mind...). They often know what the other person is feeling or what his/her next move is going to be. They are also good at solving mysteries and putting puzzles together. The intellect is sharp and the mind shrewd. Self-employment suits them, as Scorpios don’t like to have anyone telling them what to do (re: ask my parents). They are hard workers on their own, however, and excellent researchers, both thorough and perfectionistic. This talent for research often extends to investigative ability.
Scorpios don’t like to show any weakness ( I have no weaknesses!). They are cautious about what they show to the world (Okay, I do, but I won`t admit it). Their need to be in control can lead to power struggles with others. Scorpios are responsible and can almost always be counted on to do what they say they’ll do (unless we don`t want to do it). They don’t just talk idly; they put their plans into action. Most are practical and reliable. They are also forceful and exhibit great willpower (except when it comes to candy). Most Scorpios fall at one of two extremes: either they are the height of integrity ((halo shines)) or the depth of diabolical cunning (secret move: Spencer Kimball!).
Scorpios are often exposed to one or more scenes of death (yes), sex (yes), and/or violence (and yes) at a young age, something out of the realm of ordinary childhood experience. This doesn’t necessarily happen to them or to a family member—it might simply happen near them so that they witness it somehow.
Love and Friendship
Scorpios are passionate in romance and compassionate in friendship. They are very complicated, deep people and their fear of trusting can make them hard to know (Trust no one.). If they do trust and they are betrayed, they will never forgive or forget (oh hell yeah.). Pleasure and pain are amplified in this sign. Scorpios are loyal, faithful, and committed in any sort of relationship they undertake. They don’t give their hearts away lightly (and when we do, we tend to get it back in pieces.). Many of them are excessively jealous, which can make relationships a misery if they don’t get control of this trait. Others attract jealous partners. Their vengeful streak can also cause serious problems when relationships break up (serious problems for the ex, that is.).
Scorpios do best with friends and lovers who are very sensitive and not likely to engage in dominating behaviors because Scorpios won’t tolerate that for a second. Some Scorpios are drawn to the drama of high intensity relationships involving frequent fights and sensual reconciliations (ain`t nothing like breaking up and making up (miaow)). Scorpios are happier when they choose partners based on maximum compatibility rather than maximum intensity. No matter how comfortable they become with a person, Scorpios will always keep a few secrets (because there are somethings no one wants to know). Scorpios must learn not to try to control their mates. They may not even be aware they are doing this.
Career Aptitudes
Scorpios do well in careers that involve interpreting clues and solving mysteries, being calm under pressure, or precision work (aka we should be Sherlock Holmes). They do well in psychological and medical fields, as well as fields surrounding death and fields involving research. Most are good with money and this can be used in a career as well. Secret or undercover work is also favoured (it`s fun to cosplay!). Scorpios do best when they have control over their own work situation. They do not take well to being bossed around, even by a boss.
Children (aka Hell on Earth for my parents)
Scorpio children are strong-willed and stubborn, but usually well behaved in most instances (in public in any case). They are serious, often old for their age, and more intense than the other children around them (while other girls were "playing dress up" with Barbie, I was playing "Barbie frees the Smurfs from the fashion sweatshop run by evil Skeletor"). From a young age, they seek to control their environment and show the strength of their ambitions (even at the tender age of 6, I had plans to rule the world...). They are usually smart and quick to learn (especially if it had to do with life, death, or the occult ;) Many a happy evening was spent trying to raise Mr. Fluff the Hamster from the dead... ).
Scorpios are the most intense, profound, powerful characters in the zodiac (Amen). Even when they appear self-controlled and calm there is a seething intensity of emotional energy under the placid exterior (singing: Can`t fight the Seether!). They are like the volcano not far under the surface of a calm sea (singing: Volcano girls - stand back and watch us blow!), it may burst into eruption at any moment. But those of us who are particularly perceptive will be aware of the harnessed aggression, the immense forcefulness, magnetic intensity, and often strangely hypnotic personality under the tranquil, but watchful composure of Scorpio (that makes me sound like Raistlin...oh, mages...). In conventional social gatherings they are pleasant to be with, thoughtful in conversation, dignified, and reserved, yet affable and courteous; they sometimes possess penetrating eyes which make their shyer companions feel naked and defenseless before them ((snort) I don`t even think so).
In their everyday behavior they give the appearance of being withdrawn from the center of activity, yet those who know them will recognize the watchfulness that is part of their character (like a tiger stalking its prey; a lone wolf; or sloth slowly creeping along the jungle floor...wait a second....) They need great self-discipline, because they are able to recognize the qualities in themselves that make them different from other humans (for example, I have six toes on my left foot and a prehensile tail), and to know their utterly conventional natures can be used for great good (like taking over the anime sub industry and forcing it to be accurate), or great evil (smirk). Their tenacity and willpower are immense, their depth of character and passionate conviction overwhelming, yet they are deeply sensitive and easily moved by their emotions (Ah will never go hungry again!). Their sensitivity, together with a propensity for extreme likes and dislikes make them easily hurt, quick to detect insult or injury to themselves (often when none is intended) (what the - are you trying to insult me?!) and easily aroused to ferocious anger (Hulk no like natto - RAWR!). This may express itself in such destructive speech or action (RAWR!) that they make lifelong enemies (somewhere in a secret base in a volcano, a group of ninja monkeys is plotting my demise) by their outspokenness, for they find it difficult not to be overly critical of anything or anyone to whom they take a dislike.
They can harness their abundant energy constructively, tempering their self-confidence with shrewdness and their ambition with magnanimity toward others provided they like them (Aren`t you glad I like you? It sounds like if I didn`t, your life would suck.). They relate to fellow workers only as leaders and can be blunt to those they dislike to the point of cruelty (Cruelty or honesty? There is a fine line.) In fact they are not above expressing vindictiveness in deliberate cruelty.(Vindictive or honest? Does the person honestly deserve to have their bum super-glued together? In most cases, the answer is yes.) They are too demanding, too unforgiving of faults in others, perhaps because they are not aware of the shortcomings within themselves (pfff, shortcomings? You wish.), and extravagantly express their self-disgust in unreasonable resentment against their fellows. They do, however, make excellent friends, provided that their companions do nothing to impugn the honor of which Scorpios are very jealous (don`t sully my honor or I`ll have to hurt you). Part of the negative side of the Scorpio nature ((re-reads previous text) Part? It appears all we have is a :negative nature:) is a tendency to discard friends once they cease to be useful (cough, cough, kuro, cough, cough), but the decent native is aware of, and fights this tendency.
They are fortunate in that their strong reasoning powers are tempered with imagination and intuition, and these gifts, together with critical perception and analytical capacity, can enable the Scorpions to penetrate to profundities beyond the average (She is the Kwisatz Haderach!). They have a better chance of becoming geniuses than the natives of any other sign (nods). But charismatic "twice-born" characters such as they can sink into the extremes of depravity if they take the wrong path (don`t worry - I don`t take paths. I make them (grin)), and the intensity of their nature exaggerates their harmful tendencies into vices far greater than the normal (which is why I stopped smoking. The anime thing on the other hand...) Rebelliousness against all conventions (cough, cough, whisper: kohza, cough, cough), political extremism to the point where hatred of the Establishment makes them utterly unscrupulous terrorists (umm...). Brooding resentment, aggressive and sadistic brutality (item 1: What she did to the Chibi-Moon plastic figure), total arrogance (is it arrogance or honesty?), morbid jealousy, extreme volatility of temperament (do not mix me with things I don`t like), these are some of their vices (some? SOME? Sheesh. Scorpios are looking really good here.). At the other extreme is the procrastinator, the man or woman who is capable of so much that they do nothing and become indolent and self-indulgent, requiring extravagant praise and flattery from those whom they make their cronies (Well that isn`t me. I don`t care what people think).
Being so gifted, they can find fulfillment in many employments. Their inner intensity can result in the ice-cold self-control and detachment of the surgeon (ew, blood, no), the concentration of the research scientist (been there, done that, lost my sense of smell), and the heroism of the soldier (Rock steady, drill sergeant, rock steady! HOOAH!). Any profession in which analysis, investigation, research, dealing with practicalities, and the solving of mysteries are relevant, can appeal to them. So police and detective work (Holmes and Vimes, daisuki, daisuki da yo!), espionage and counterespionage, the law (the truth? You can`t handle the truth!), physics or psychology may attract them, and they can become masters of the written and spoken word (see the smut garden...just kidding!). They may be most persuasive orators and find fulfillment as diplomats (Mr. President, I highly recommend that we use our full NBC capabilities on Greenland...) or preachers and, if they make the Church their profession, their inner intensity can express itself in the spiritual fervor of the mystic or the thaumaturgy.
Scorpio is the symbol of sex and Scorpios are passionate lovers, the most sensually energetic of all the signs (my blushes...). For them, union with the beloved is a sacrament, an "outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace.". Their overriding urge in loving is to use their power to penetrate beyond themselves and to lose themselves sexually in their partners in an almost mystical ecstasy (so what they`re saying is I have to be high to enjoy sex?), thus discovering the meaning of that union which is greater than individuality, and is a marriage of the spirit as well as of flesh (hmm...how about I just go watch a luau instead?) They are thus capable of the greatest heights of passionate transport, but debauchery and perversion are always dangers (see the smut garden, my closet, and my doujin collection), and Scorpios can become sadistic monsters of sensuality and eroticism (Oh, come on, they liked it!) Their feelings are so intense that even when their love is of the highest, and most idealistic kind, they are nevertheless frequently protagonists in tragic, even violent romances (see all fic; angst).
As an INTJ, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you take things in primarily via your intuition. Your secondary mode is external, where you deal with things rationally and logically.
INTJs live in the world of ideas and strategic planning (Plan one: Take over the known universe.). They value intelligence, knowledge, and competence, and typically have high standards in these regards, which they continuously strive to fulfill. To a somewhat lesser extent, they have similar expectations of others. (Shown most easily by the regular beatings I give out in class to students who drop 'a' and 'the' in sentences.)
With Introverted Intuition dominating their personality, INTJs focus their energy on observing the world, and generating ideas and possibilities. (the spinning, the spinning!) Their mind constantly gathers information and makes associations about it. They are tremendously insightful and usually are very quick to understand new ideas. However, their primary interest is not understanding a concept, but rather applying that concept in a useful way. (For example, I understand that pinching the inside of a person's thigh hurts like holy hell and then I apply this knowledge to the perverts on the subway cars.) Unlike the INTP, they do not follow an idea as far as they possibly can, seeking only to understand it fully. INTJs are driven to come to conclusions about ideas. Their need for closure and organization usually requires that they take some action. (such as fic writing)
INTJ's tremendous value and need for systems and organization, combined with their natural insightfulness, makes them excellent scientists (oh, the dissection! the DNA manipulation! The CLONING!). An INTJ scientist gives a gift to society by putting their ideas into a useful form for others to follow. It is not easy for the INTJ to express their internal images, insights, and abstractions. The internal form of the INTJ's thoughts and concepts is highly individualized, and is not readily translatable into a form that others will understand. (I've found that fingerpainting my ideas and presenting them to others helps illustrate my points better.) However, the INTJ is driven to translate their ideas into a plan or system that is usually readily explainable, rather than to do a direct translation of their thoughts. They usually don't see the value of a direct transaction, and will also have difficulty expressing their ideas, which are non-linear. (That's true - usually I have to explain how I got from point A to X without using the rest of the alphabet. Silly people - linear thinking is for children!) However, their extreme respect of knowledge and intelligence will motivate them to explain themselves to another person who they feel is deserving of the effort. (Do you feel worthy? Do you?)
INTJs are natural leaders, although they usually choose to remain in the background until they see a real need to take over the lead. (Muwahahaha!) When they are in leadership roles, they are quite effective, because they are able to objectively see the reality of a situation, and are adaptable enough to change things which aren't working well. (And not afraid to apply the inner thigh groin pinch to maintain discipline among the troops...) They are the supreme strategists - always scanning available ideas and concepts and weighing them against their current strategy, to plan for every conceivable contingency. (pushes her glasses up with the palm of her hand and grins evilly)
INTJs spend a lot of time inside their own minds (because the soundtrack is better), and may have little interest in the other people's thoughts or feelings (because feelings are STOOPID!). Unless their Feeling side is developed, they may have problems giving other people the level of intimacy that is needed (intimacy is for peasants!). Unless their Sensing side is developed, they may have a tendency to ignore details which are necessary for implementing their ideas. (Details are for peasants too!)
The INTJ's interest in dealing with the world is to make decisions, express judgments, and put everything that they encounter into an understandable and rational system. Consequently, they are quick to express judgments (such as - You suck!). Often they have very evolved intuitions, and are convinced that they are right about things. (Convinced? Or just plain right?! Don't condescend to me you stupid quiz answer!) Unless they complement their intuitive understanding with a well-developed ability to express their insights, they may find themselves frequently misunderstood.(Ah, but it's the fate of all geniuses to be misunderstood...) In these cases, INTJs tend to blame misunderstandings on the limitations of the other party, rather than on their own difficulty in expressing themselves (The peasants can't understand because of their limited cranial capacity). This tendency may cause the INTJ to dismiss others input too quickly, and to become generally arrogant and elitist. (No, I'm arrogant and elitist because I'm better than everyone. Duh.)
Other people may have a difficult time understanding an INTJ. They may see them as aloof and reserved.(Hwhat? I match you "reserved" and raise you "Nude beach!") Indeed, the INTJ is not overly demonstrative of their affections, and is likely to not give as much praise or positive support as others may need or desire. That doesn't mean that he or she doesn't truly have affection or regard for others, they simply do not typically feel the need to express it. (I'm here. I'm around. What more do people want?) Others may falsely perceive the INTJ as being rigid and set in their ways. Nothing could be further from the truth, because the INTJ is committed to always finding the objective best strategy to implement their ideas. The INTJ is usually quite open to hearing an alternative way of doing something. (especially if it involves hot guys getting naked...)
When under a great deal of stress, the INTJ may become obsessed with mindless repetitive, Sensate activities, such as over-drinking. (refuses to meet anyone's eyes) They may also tend to become absorbed with minutia and details that they would not normally consider important to their overall goal.
INTJs need to remember to express themselves sufficiently, so as to avoid difficulties with people misunderstandings. In the absence of properly developing their communication abilities, they may become abrupt and short with people, and isolationists. (No man is an island except me! And my island is better than yours!)
INTJs have a tremendous amount of ability to accomplish great things. They have insight into the Big Picture (did you know the Big Picture is a close-up of Rick Flair's big floppy man titties?), and are driven to synthesize their concepts into solid plans of action. Their reasoning skills gives them the means to accomplish that. INTJs are most always highly competent people, and will not have a problem meeting their career or education goals (First goal: Take over the known universe). They have the capability to make great strides in these arenas. On a personal level, the INTJ who practices tolerances and puts effort into effectively communicating their insights to others has everything in his or her power to lead a rich and rewarding life. (Who needs a "Rich and rewarding life"? Can it be more rich and rewarding then ruling the world and being served Mai Tai's by Polynesians and men in kilts? I think not!)
